How to get more Google reviews without breaking Google’s policy

Most of the gap between businesses that get reviews and those that do not is timing and friction, not persuasion.

Ask on the day

Satisfaction fades within hours and the intention to leave a review fades with it. A request sent a week later is asking someone to recall a feeling.

Make it one tap

A direct link opens the review box with the stars already on screen. Without it there are four steps between goodwill and a published review, and four chances to abandon it.

Do not trade

Google prohibits incentives of any kind, and in the US the FTC rule covers it. A free coffee for a review is a breach twice over and businesses do it openly, usually unaware.

Keep it going

Three a month for a year beats a hundred in a fortnight. A burst is the exact pattern platforms look for, and it leaves you with a profile that ages badly.
