Letting visitors leave a review

Turn on the Write a Review button and visitors can leave a review without leaving your site. Settings tab, Collect Reviews via Widget, then choose whether the review is written in the widget, on a review platform, or either.

Reviews left in the widget publish immediately. There is no approval step before they appear.

Review form in widget and review platforms — the visitor picks. Only review platforms — they are sent to Google or another connected platform. Only review form in widget — everything stays on your site.

The form takes a star rating, review text the visitor can write or have drafted for them, and a name. If no name is given, the default reviewer name you set is used.

A review submitted through the form appears in the widget straight away and you moderate afterwards by hiding anything unwanted. There is no hold-for-approval queue. Worth knowing before putting the button on a high-traffic page.

You can prompt reviewers to also post on a public platform: for all reviews, for positive ones only, or not at all. Which you choose matters — Google prefers you ask all customers rather than a selected group, and Yelp asks you not to solicit at all.
