The average rating looks wrong

The rating in the widget is taken directly from Google and cannot be edited.

The short answer

The rating in the widget is taken directly from Google and cannot be edited. If it does not match what you see on Google, either the source is wrong, a recent review has not propagated yet, or you are comparing against a different listing.

Filtering reviews never changes it — that is deliberate.

Check the source first

A rating that is close but not identical usually means the right business. A rating that is wildly different usually means the wrong listing — a similarly named place, or one of two duplicate profiles.

Recent reviews

A rating recalculates as new reviews arrive, and the widget follows on its own schedule. A gap of a few days after a new review is normal.

Filtering does not change it

If you have set a minimum rating, the widget shows fewer review cards but the same overall score, because the score comes from the source rather than from the filtered set. This surprises people and it is the correct behaviour — a recalculated average would misrepresent your rating.

Google can’t find my business

There are three ways to connect a Google source: business name, business name together with the address, or a Google Place ID.
